It’s a new year and we’re ramping up efforts for Startup Weekend Detroit.
We’re hoping to attract about 100 attendees with great ideas and deep skills, but once they get here we need to feed them — a free t-shirt would be a nice touch, too, along with some groovy stickers. We also need to make sure we have enough power strips and extension cords so everyone can stay connected throughout the event.
In order to help raise funds, I created a widget using ChipIn.
This way individuals and businesses can help us cover our costs with as large or small a donation as they please. Please also feel free to grab the widget and add it to your blog, website or other corner of the internet.
If your company is interested in sponsoring Startup Weekend Detroit, please drop me a line at shannonpaul5[at]gmail[dot]com.
Many thanks in advance for your support and please let us know that you donated by leaving a comment at the end of this post.
For some background information on the Startup Weekend organization, please visit their FAQ.

so great to see things like this happening in my hometown. I’m in Houston now and any support I can give from here, I would be glad to offer.

Thanks, Donna! We’re asking people to chip in whatever they can online. There’s a widget in the side bar that lets people donate any amount safely via Paypal.

I posted it on my Myspace page because I have it figured out and it seems to be the only thing that I use that for.
If I could figure out how to do the wordpress thing that would be even better but it does not seem to be working.
I plan on being there this time!

Donated a few bucks to help the cause. Best of luck raising the funds, Shannon. I will also give you a retweet and post info about it on my blog.
Take care!
